Animal Husbandry
What are hunger gap initiatives?
Hunger gaps are crops that can be harvested from the time of planting for a period of two years or more. These kinds of vegetables are vital in between the harvesting crops and the time for planting new crops. These fill the space between waiting for new crops to be harvested
We are currently collecting and sourcing perennial vegetable seeds that will grow between two to 3 years. We have already collected vegetables such as Swiss Chard, Portuguese kale, and crops like Lapena (Pigeon peas, which will grow for approximately 4 years.
Visions and Goals
Little is known about perennial vegetables in Africa, so, we are going to invest in extensive research and learn about these vegetables and herbs.
